DVClub was founded in Austin, TX by Eric Hennenhoefer in 2005. DVClub’s Charter is to provide technical education on best methods and practices for functional verification and RTL design. DVClub North America is well known for providing excellent technical content during its events while specifically not promoting marketing materials. In 2014, with Eric responsible for R+D at Arm, he handed the DVClub management over to the Paradigm Works team of Michael Hoyt, Jim Crocker, and Kelly Larson (retired as of May 2026 after 20yrs of DVClub service!) ARM has continued its Diamond level Sponsorship along with Paradigm Works, enabling DVClub in North America to provide regularly scheduled in-person technical education and networking events with occasional virtual events as well.

Membership

DVClub membership is free and open to engineers working in verification and design, but there are also plenty of entrepreneurs, professors, students, managers, and investors, who attend our Events.

Events

DVClub events are free to attend, thanks to the financial support of our Sponsors. DVClub is currently hosting events in Silicon Valley, Portland (OR), Austin, Dallas, Fort Collins, Boston, Raleigh/RTP, Toronto, and Ottawa.  Events officially run from noon to 1pm and always include a free lunch. Informally, folks arrive early and stay later to network and continue technical discussions. In-person attendance can exceed 200 engineers at some events like in Austin or Silicon Valley, but more commonly events have 30-80 attendees on a regular basis.

Organization

Michael Hoyt hosts most of the events. Jim Crocker directs operations and communication, while Helen Cressy is DVClub Administrator, supporting venue management, bookings, and registration. DVClub also greatly benefits from the support of volunteers in each of the geographies. DVClub volunteers help promote the DVClub charter, spread the word about upcoming events, and help enlist members who present technical papers at our events.

Presenting at Events

We are always looking for technical leaders to contribute to the education of our community. If you have a presentation or would like to share a topic at one of our upcoming events, please contact us at info@dvclub.org. Become a recognized contributor to the DVClub community! See our list of distinguished recent presenters.

Feedback

Feedback (complaints, compliments, speaker ideas, topic ideas, good locations, etc.) is appreciated and can be shared at info@dvclub.org or in person at any Event.
